Preface

The idea to write down ‘Thoughts and Views’ came about firstly because there was too much audio and visual data available, sitting in the computer doing nothing. I thought it was pure waste because it does have some powerful ideas, fundamentally taking us all back to the roots of art.

So initially, I decided to make presentation slides, without moderating the contents, to be put up and linked to the social media. But because it is our normal day to day conversation, the presentation of it in a text format, was far too confusing for the public to understand, mainly because of the way Weets speaks English.

The second reason is because Weets cannot explain his paintings in words and so I thought of writing down the many things surrounding his art which has influenced and inspired Weets to do what he does best, painting. This is for the people who are interested in his work. They will get an insight into the workings of the mind behind these creations.

Thirdly, I admire the honesty and integrity of the artist and wanted to help get Weets’ ideas, his art, out in the open to be seen, by the art world in particular and the public in general, to do the thinking or rather rethinking.
